βΈοΈ Pause on new data centers
After public anger over the approval and growth of the QTS data center campus, Fayetteville's leaders approved a temporary pause on new data center applications in early 2026. Projects already under review were not covered.
β Turned down
Fayetteville's planning and zoning commission voted to deny the site plan and building designs for a data center on Highway 85 North, on land already zoned to allow data centers. About 100 residents came to oppose it. The developer, CHI/Acquisitions (Crow Holdings), appealed to the city council but withdrew the appeal before the March 19, 2026 hearing.
