Local votes and rules
โ๏ธ Court case
A data center owner, Eagan Capital, sued Eagan over its data center pause. The company says only the state utility commission can regulate power use. It asks for $50,000. Earlier, in May, the city denied the company a permit after cooling units were set up without permits. The city says it will defend the pause.
โธ๏ธ Pause on new data centers
Eagan paused new data centers and crypto mining for one year. It covers sites within 500 feet of homes or that use more than 20 megawatts of power. It was the first data center pause in Minnesota. The vote was unanimous.
