With data center deals under discussion, Bastrop County commissioners updated the county's tax break rules. New projects must invest at least $20 million (or $10 million to expand) and create at least 25 jobs, with a goal of 25% local hires, plus environmental review and benefit standards. A commissioner said tax breaks are the only tool the state gives counties to set conditions.
