πΊοΈ Zoning change
Red Oak City Council voted 4-1 to rezone 830 acres for a Compass Datacenters campus between Goodloe Lane, FM 2377, Pierce Road and Pratt Road. It is planned as eight two-story buildings worth about $9.45 billion. More than 130 opponents came to city meetings. Red Oak has given 10-year tax breaks to Google, Compass and DataBank.

In much of Texas you can pick who sells you power, but this company owns the power lines.
Big data centers need a lot of power. Who pays for new power lines depends on state rules. See the rules in Texas.
