Rowan 'Project Stampede' and 'Project Ranger' data centers (Temple)
Also called: Project Stampede, Project Ranger
Besides Project Temple, Rowan Digital Infrastructure has two more data center projects in Temple: Project Stampede (2 buildings, about 270 acres) and Project Ranger (1 building). The City Council approved a development deal and annexation for Stampede in April 2026 after an almost 8-hour meeting. Residents then started a recall effort against the mayor and council members.
Where things stand: Stampede's development deal was approved in April 2026; Rowan says 5 of its 6 Temple buildings are approved and 4 are being built.
🕒 Latest update (May 7, 2026): Council approved annexation, zoning and utility items for a three-phase Rowan data center project in Synergy Park.

✅ Approved
Rowan Digital Infrastructure asked Temple to approve the 'Lasso' building, the last of six data centers on its Temple campus, on a new site after Rowan gave land to the city for a landfill expansion. The Planning and Zoning Commission heard it on August 17, 2026, with City Council to follow in September. The city is also weighing a tax break, annexation and new rules with a 200-foot buffer between data centers and homes.
