Atlanta City Council voted in June 2025 to bar data centers from some neighborhoods and to require developers to get a special use permit to build one.
π« Ban
Atlanta City Council banned new data centers in the BeltLine Overlay District, the area around the 22-mile BeltLine trail loop. Council members said data centers do not fit the walkable plans for the corridor and use a lot of power and water.
