π« Ban
Athens City Council voted 3-2 for an ordinance that bans data centers in the city. A data center is defined as a building over 500 square feet used to house computer servers, so small server rooms at schools or offices are not affected. The fight began in April 2026, when a company called Data Factory proposed a 10-megawatt data center with bitcoin mining.
