Amazon plans a 220,000-square-foot data center on 42 acres at Blackwell Road and Lee Highway in Warrenton. The Town Council approved a permit in 2023 and staff approved the site plan in 2024. Residents sued to overturn the approval. In 2025 the town ruled Amazon had no vested right to build, and Amazon appealed. Courts had not ruled on the main cases by August 2026.

Town council voted 6-0 to strike data centers as an allowed use in industrial zones. It does not cancel the special use permit the town gave Amazon in February 2023 for a data center on Blackwell Road.

The nonprofit Citizens for Fauquier County and town residents sued to overturn the town council's February 2023 special use permit for a 220,000-square-foot Amazon data center on Blackwell Road. A trial was held in March 2026 and final arguments were on June 15, 2026; no ruling had been reported.
