King George Technology Center (Green Energy Ventures)
Supervisors rezoned about 300 acres at Route 3 and Bloomsbury Road for 13 data center buildings, 6.5 million square feet in all. Groundwater may not be used to cool equipment, and only the cleanest (Tier 4) generators are allowed. Buildings may be up to 90 feet tall.

Amazon Data Services sued after the county zoning appeals board upheld a refusal to confirm Amazon's 'vested rights' to build on the 893-acre Birchwood site. A trial was scheduled for September 28-29, 2026; no ruling had been reported.

A newly elected board majority canceled the tax deal (performance agreement) the county had signed with Amazon on December 19, 2023 for an 869-acre data center campus at the old Birchwood power plant, and began looking at rezoning the land back to farmland.
