Local votes and rules
βΈοΈ Pause on new data centers
Denton City Council voted unanimously to start the legal steps for a 90-day pause on new data centers, which could be extended by 90 more days. Public hearings are set for September 22 and October 27, 2026, and a final vote could come as early as December. Passing it needs three out of four council members. Existing projects, such as Core Scientific's 391-megawatt site, may not be stopped.
