PowerHouse data center in Caldwell Valley Technology Park (near Uhland)
Also called: Powerhouse DC Uhland
PowerHouse Data Centers plans a 500-acre data center campus inside Tract's Caldwell Valley Technology Park near Uhland. After many residents pushed back at an open house, the company asked to take the land out of Uhland's area of control. Texas counties have much less power than cities to regulate data centers.
Where things stand: PowerHouse asked to remove the site from Uhland's control so the county would handle it instead.
๐ Latest update (May 2026): PowerHouse filed a petition to release its site from Uhland's jurisdiction so it can go through Caldwell County.

Local votes and rules
๐ Other
Caldwell County commissioners voted to put on hold all property tax breaks (Chapter 312 abatements) for large data centers. This came after months of complaints that projects were moving ahead with little public information, and after the county judge disclosed a land deal tied to another data center plan. The county had approved two such tax breaks earlier in 2026.
๐ Other
Caldwell County commissioners unanimously passed Resolution 29-2026. It opposes data centers that use open-loop water cooling or other heavy drinking-water use in dry areas, and any data center without safeguards. It asks the Legislature to give counties more power, since Texas counties cannot zone land.
๐ค Agreement with the company
Caldwell County commissioners approved a property tax break (Chapter 312 abatement) with EDC Austin LLC for a data center to be run by Edged. It is planned on about 330 acres off State Highway 142 near the LCRA Timmerman power plant in the Maxwell area, with up to $7.3 billion in total investment.
