Liberty Data Centers plans a data center in up to four phases on 125 acres in the Frank Myers Industrial Park in Americus. The company says each phase could be about 100 megawatts. The city paused new data centers for 30 days in September 2026 to write rules.

Americus City Council voted 5-1 for a 30-day pause on data centers so it can finish a data center ordinance. Liberty Data Centers plans a site in Frank Myers Industrial Park next to Georgia Southwestern State University. The city attorney warned against pausing for more than 180 days.

The local development authority sold a site in Frank Myers Industrial Park to Liberty Data Centers for $1 (fair market value $469,000). In return Liberty promised at least 150 full-time jobs averaging $80,000 a year, no private wells or sewer system, and limits on backup generator testing. If it breaks the deal it must pay back part or all of the land value.
