Local votes and rules
βΈοΈ Pause on new data centers Β· Wright County
Wright County passed an emergency pause on data center applications in all 18 of its townships, for up to one year, while it writes rules. The vote was unanimous. It does not change rules inside cities like Monticello. A resident workgroup was formed in June.
π Data center rules
Monticello passed rules for data centers, 4-1. A data center needs a special planned development approval. Near homes it must be 300 feet away with full screening, or 700 feet without. Developers must pay for all needed roads, pipes and power.
βοΈ Court case
The Minnesota Center for Environmental Advocacy sued Monticello and Monticello Tech over the environmental review for a data center campus of 3 to 5 million square feet.
