Wrightstown's Village Board paused data center planning in June 2026, then unanimously turned it into a one-year pause in July, ahead of the August vote by residents.

Hobart passed a one-year pause on data center development, after a public hearing on July 7, 2026. The village will use the time to write data center rules into its zoning code. No developer had approached the village, but some residents had been approached.

Ashwaubenon passed a 12-month pause on very large data centers. The village will not accept applications or permits for them while it updates its zoning rules. Officials said this is not a stand for or against data centers.

The Town of New Denmark passed a one-year pause on data centers (Resolution 2026-04), which can be extended six months. The Plan Commission will write rules on where and how data centers could operate. The town cited water, roads, public services and health.

Hobart has a draft ordinance that would replace its pause with permanent data center rules. Data centers would only be allowed in industrial districts with a special permit, far from homes, with strict night noise limits.
