Local votes and rules
βΈοΈ Pause on new data centers
Spartanburg County Council voted 5-1 for a one-year freeze on new data centers bigger than 65 megawatts. Applications were already on hold since the first vote on June 22. Projects already approved, like the Valara (NorthMark) site, are not affected.
β Turned down
The county zoning appeals board voted unanimously to uphold staff's rejection of a 200,000-square-foot, 60-megawatt data center at the old paper mill site on Jones Road. Staff found code problems and said they could not take the application while the moratorium was pending.
