Prometheus Hyperscale plans a 1.25-gigawatt data center on 506 acres of ranch land east of Evanston. It would make its own power from natural gas. The company says building would start within six months of final permits and take four to five years.
Where things stand: County granted a conditional use permit in June 2026. A court tossed a challenge in August. Building has not started.

Residents asked the district court to review and cancel the county's permits for the Prometheus data center. They said there were secret meetings and conflicts of interest, and that a water study was needed. The county denied this. A judge dismissed the case on Aug. 17, 2026, so the permits stand.
