QTS RIC4 and RIC5 expansions (White Oak / Varina)
QTS is adding up to 17 data centers on 1,100 acres in Varina near White Oak Technology Park: up to 10 at RIC4 (478 acres) and up to 7 at RIC5 (622 acres). Its overall campus would reach 26 buildings. QTS asked the state for 370 more diesel backup generators on top of 544 already allowed.

Supervisors unanimously ended by-right data centers anywhere in the county, including White Oak Technology Park. New data centers need a provisional use permit and a public hearing, and must be at least 500 feet from homes.
