Convergent VA wanted six data centers (1.584 million square feet) on about 100 acres south of Remington, between James Madison Street and James Madison Highway. It withdrew the rezoning in August 2026 and now plans to build housing.

Supervisors voted to let Remington Technology Park, a six-building data center project in Remington, power itself with an on-site plant of 488 natural gas fuel cells instead of 13 gas turbines.
✋ Turned down
The county planning commission voted 4-1 to recommend denial of 'Gigaland', a seven-building, 2.2-million-square-foot data center campus in Remington. The developers later withdrew the application, cancelling a September 11, 2025 supervisors' hearing, and said they would file a new one.
