What happened so far
- Dec 2023Cipher took over a land lease of about 75 acres in Winkler County to build a data center.
- Oct 2025Cipher signed a 15-year lease with Amazon Web Services for about 300 megawatts of AI data center space at the site, which had been a bitcoin mine.
- Aug 2026First data center space was handed over to Amazon and rent began.
