Skybox / Emergent data center on city land (San Angelo City Farm)
Also called: Skybox Data Center Complex, City Farm data center
San Angelo plans to sell about 350 acres of city land to Skybox for a data center campus that could reach 1.2 gigawatts. The city rezoned the land and passed water and land rules. Some residents are fighting it, and a council member faces a recall vote on November 3, 2026.
Where things stand: City Council rezoned the city-owned land in January 2026 and passed data center rules. The land sale and a 380 incentive agreement were still being negotiated.
๐ Latest update (June 22, 2026): A petition to recall the mayor over the project failed to get enough signatures.

๐ Data center rules
San Angelo City Council voted 6-0 for data center land use rules. Data centers must stay 300 feet from homes and residential zones, and noise may not go over 55 dBA at any time, with extra limits on low humming sounds. Solid fencing is required next to some neighborhoods, and sites must capture rainwater for landscaping.
