Proposed
Google Project Roman data center (near Hereford)
Also called: Roman Project, IP Roman III Gas
Google and Intersect plan a large data center on 3,700 acres northwest of Hereford, with its own gas power plant and wind and solar farms. Farmers worry about water. The developers say they will use the Santa Rosa Aquifer, not the Ogallala.
Where things stand: Early stage. Land is bought, a gas plant air permit was requested, and tax breaks were being discussed in July 2026.
๐ Latest update (Aug 27, 2026): Reporting said the project has four phases, with 3,700 acres for the first phase and more land for solar and wind.
