A company now called Big Digital Energy runs a large bitcoin mining site of about 120 megawatts in Midland. It has signed a deal to host computer chips for an AI customer, with talk of growing to 144 megawatts. This is separate from the Fezzik Energy data center proposal in Midland.

Residents packed a Midland council meeting over a proposed zoning change that would let Fezzik Energy build a data center at a former steel mill site. Council sent the request to the borough and county planning commissions and set a public hearing for September 10.
