Mifflin County commissioners approved Ordinance 2 of 2026, which sets rules for data center site planning, building and operations. It applies in towns covered by the county's subdivision and land development rules.

Data center developers filed a challenge in county court against Granville Township's data center ordinance. The township solicitor said the developers want the first ordinance thrown out. The township is also considering changes to the ordinance.

Granville Township supervisors rejected PA Data Center Partners' application for a data center on farmland along Loop Road. Officials said the application was missing a required traffic study certification and letters showing water and power would be available. The developer was told it could reapply.

Granville Township passed zoning rules for data centers. They are allowed only in the Industrial zone with special approval, and must meet limits on noise, height, water use and lighting. In August 2026 the township began working on changes to the rules.

Derry Township in Mifflin County is drafting a data center ordinance, using Montgomery County's model as a guide. Supervisors planned a public workshop before formal hearings.
