Marietta City Council passed a pause on all new data center projects through December 31, 2026, and set aside a rezoning request for a data center on Powers Ferry Place. The pause did not cover applications already filed.

In February 2026 Cobb County commissioners took up a 180-day pause on new data center permits and rezonings outside city limits, citing noise, air pollution from cooling and backup generators, looks and strain on power and water. Two data center trackers list a Cobb County pause as in force.
