⏸️ Pause on new data centers · Dane County

Dane County paused zoning permits for very large (hyperscale) data centers for 18 months in towns that use county zoning. The county will study the effects and write rules. It does not cover cities, villages, or towns with their own zoning.

⏸️ Pause on new data centers

The Town of Westport unanimously passed a one-year pause on permits for data centers and telecom centers (Ordinance 26-01). No application was filed. Town staff had met in 2025 with MG&E and the developer Cloverleaf about a 57-acre site, which Cloverleaf found too small.
