π Data center rules Β· Utah County
Utah County is writing rules that would allow data centers in its Mining and Grazing (M&G-1) and Industrial (I-1) zones and add a new Data Center Overlay zone with standards. The county planning commission held a hearing on Sept 15, 2026 and will discuss it again in October. Drafts call for two public meetings before an application and postcards to homes within one mile.
π€ Agreement with the company
Eagle Mountain's Redevelopment Agency approved tax-sharing deals for the Sweetwater #4 Community Reinvestment Area, which covers about 567 acres south of Meta's data center for a multi-billion-dollar expansion. Part of the new property taxes will go back to the area for roads, pipes and other infrastructure. Deals with the Alpine School District (Nov 18, 2025) and Utah County (amended Dec 2, 2025) were approved. On Oct 21, 2025 the agency also began planning a Sweetwater #5 area, 523 acres west of Meta, for more data center building, and the city council took up a new development agreement with Meta's company Stadion LLC.
