πŸ“œ Data center rules

Kerrville City Council unanimously passed Ordinance 2026-07, a zoning update with strict rules for data centers and large battery sites. Data centers must be 500 feet from homes, schools, parks, churches, hospitals and child care, and 300 feet from major roads. City staff said the rules may leave almost no place to build one.

⚑ Your electric company

Depending on where you live in Kerrville City: Bandera Electric Co-op, Inc. (co-op (owned by its members)) or Pedernales Electric Co-op, Inc. (co-op (owned by its members)) or Central Texas Electric Co-op, Inc. (co-op (owned by its members)) or Kerrville Public Utility Board (run by the town).

In much of Texas you can pick who sells you power, but this company owns the power lines.

Big data centers need a lot of power. Who pays for new power lines depends on state rules. See the rules in Texas.
