Nine-story data center south of the Spokane Street Viaduct (SODO)
A developer has filed plans for a nine-story data center with its own power substation on an empty lot in SODO. The plans came in before Seattle paused large data centers, so they may go forward under old rules. The company behind it has not been named.
Where things stand: Drawings filed before Seattle's June 2026 pause, so the city considers it vested.
π Latest update (June 18, 2026): KUOW reported the PacLand-filed plans were vested before the city's pause.

Local votes and rules
βΈοΈ Pause on new data centers
Seattle City Council voted unanimously to stop accepting or approving applications for new or bigger large data centers for one year (Ordinance 127447). It covers sites that need more than 20 MVA of power (about 20 megawatts). The mayor signed it on June 11. The city can renew it in six-month steps. A companion resolution asks city offices to study effects on power, water, bills, jobs and health.
