Amazon Potomac Church Tech Center
Amazon is building two data centers near Old Potomac Church Road. In August 2026 supervisors approved changes 4-2: Amazon will pay $10 million for roads, keep older Tier 2 backup generators, and stay under 217,000 gallons of drinking water a day.
Where things stand: First building got its occupancy permit May 1, 2026; second due July 2028.

After a meeting that ran past 2:30 a.m., supervisors voted 4-2 (one abstaining) to require data center buildings to sit at least 750 feet from homes, schools, and the Rappahannock and Potomac rivers, up from 100 feet. County staff called it the strictest setback in Virginia.
