Fairfax County is selling 41.7 acres of its police training center at 3721 Stonecroft Blvd. in Chantilly to Starwood Capital Group for a data center. The county will use the money for a new training academy. Some residents objected on environmental and openness grounds.

Supervisors adopted new zoning rules for data centers: at least 200 feet from homes, at least 1 mile from Metro stations, noise studies required, and outdoor equipment such as generators and cooling units set back 500 feet.
