Mesh Capital data center on Cabin Field Road
A developer wanted a data center on 57 acres off Route 460. Supervisors said no to changing the property's conditions, but the developer filed smaller plans that may still be allowed. An earlier plan mentioned up to a million gallons of water a day.
Where things stand: Supervisors denied a change in October 2025, but the developer filed smaller site plans that the county says follow the old rules.
π Latest update (Nov 3, 2025): News reported the developer filed three scaled-back site plans that do not need a board vote.

π Other
A neighbor asked supervisors to reverse the zoning administrator's October 2025 finding that MESH Capital's data center plan for the 57-acre Cabin Field Road site follows the rules. The board was set to vote on January 20, 2026; we could not confirm the outcome.
πΊοΈ Zoning change
Supervisors voted 5-2 on an emergency change that takes data centers off the by-right list in heavy industrial zones, so they need a special use permit. On January 6, 2026 the board voted 4-3 to keep the temporary rule and delay a permanent decision by 120 days.
β Turned down
Supervisors voted 5-2 to deny MESH Capital's request to remove old conditions (proffers) on 57 wooded acres near U.S. 460 and Cabin Field Road, which would have made the site easier to sell for three data centers.
