Meta runs a large data center campus of about 800 acres in Gallatin, north of Nashville. It has four data center buildings and more than $1.5 billion invested. Neighbors have complained about construction noise and water runoff.
Where things stand: Formally opened in November 2024 with a fourth building under construction. In July 2026 the city annexed 125 acres next door; no new plan is announced.

⏸️ Pause on new data centers
Gallatin's planning commission recommended a 12-month data center pause by a 5-2 vote. On Sept. 15, 2026 the city council passed a shorter six-month pause on first reading, 5-1, and left out facilities that mainly serve phone and internet networks. A second vote is still needed.

Gallatin City Council approved a 60-day pause on new data center applications. Council members said this was not the full moratorium proposed earlier.
