Boxminer.io wanted to build a 20-megawatt data center on 19.5 acres in La Pine's industrial park. After hours of public comments against it, the city council voted not to sell the land. The company's CEO said he doubts there will ever be a data center in La Pine.

A residents' group began a petition for a city ballot measure with rules for any future La Pine data center: a nighttime noise limit, no low-frequency noise, shielded lighting and yearly reports on power, water, generator use and jobs. It needs 362 valid signatures. Whether it made the ballot is not known.

After hours of public comment, La Pine City Council voted unanimously not to sell 19.5 acres of industrial park land to Boxminer for a 20-megawatt data center. In March the council had voted (non-binding) to start the sale process.
