A group of Enid natives proposes a $35 billion data center project on about 1,735 acres at four sites in and around Enid. It would make its own power with up to 3.3 gigawatts of gas plants and use Kaw Lake water. The City Commission will hear the rezoning on Oct 27.

On September 28, 2026, Enid's Metropolitan Area Planning Commission voted 6-1 and 5-2 to recommend the rezoning requests for Project Thunderbird. The City Commission moved its hearing from October 6 to a special meeting on October 27, 2026, at 5 p.m. at the Stride Bank Center Grand Ballroom, to fit more people.
