JPMorgan Chase wants to add a second data center building to its campus in Orangeburg. The county development agency approved about $77 million in sales tax breaks, but the bank listed only one new permanent job. A state senator called it the biggest per-job subsidy in the nation.

Town board passed a 6-month pause on new data center and battery storage projects. It does not cover DataBank's planned Phase 2 expansion in Orangeburg, which is still under planning board review.
