Heartland Industrial Park AI data center (Fluidstack, near Merom)
Also called: Next Frontier Indiana Campus, Heartland Industrial Park, Fluidstack Sullivan County
Fluidstack and partners are building a large AI data center campus next to the Merom coal plant in Sullivan County. The first phase is two buildings (430 MW) on about 140 acres; the full site could reach 2.1 gigawatts on about 1,000 acres. The company promised $50 million to the county and says it uses closed-loop cooling.
Where things stand: Phase 1 is under construction. The first data hall is planned to open in July 2027.
๐ Latest update (Aug 6, 2026): Fluidstack held a public open house in Merom about the project.
