Companies tied to a Florida businessman asked to rezone about 682 acres along I-95 in Kingsland for an industrial park that would allow data centers. After protests and a letter from the Kings Bay Navy base commander, the requests were withdrawn in May 2026. Camden County then passed a 6-month pause on data centers.

    The commander of Naval Submarine Base Kings Bay asked Kingsland's mayor to delay action, citing water, power grid and environmental worries.

    The rezoning and annexation applications were withdrawn.

Kingsland passed a one-year pause on data centers in May 2026. It came after the city got the first full data center application on the Georgia coast, for land along I-95. That rezoning request was later pulled back.
