Amazon Web Services is building a data center on Alcovy Road in Covington, part of its $11 billion Georgia plan. The city approved a $100 million deal for a reclaimed water and cooling plant. Amazon says it will use outside air for cooling most of the year.
Where things stand: City approved a $100 million water treatment and cooling facility deal on Dec. 15, 2025. A county stop-work order at the Amazon site was later lifted (Covington News headline).
