Possible data center on the former landfill tract in Brantley County
Also called: Brantley County Development Partners landfill site
Brantley County leaders say someone wants to buy the old landfill site for a data center, but no formal plan has been filed. Commissioners considered changing the land use rules to allow data centers and put off the vote after strong public pushback.
Where things stand: No formal proposal has been filed. In January 2026 the county said a person interested in building a data center (described as a Microsoft data center) had approached it about buying the land. The county's vote on allowing data centers in light industrial zones was postponed.
🕒 Latest update (June 2026): Residents gave commissioners a petition with 1,310 signatures against a data center.
