Prologis wants to build a three-story data center of about 516,000 square feet on an empty lot in south San Jose. It would use up to 99 megawatts and have its own substation and backup generators. Prologis says water use would be about the same as 40 homes.

A council committee asked staff to add community benefits, like parks and job training, to the data center rules being written. The rules go to council in December 2026.
