Meta opened a large data center in Mesa in early 2025, with five buildings planned, over 2.5 million square feet in all. It cost more than $1 billion. Meta says it supports about 200 jobs.
Where things stand: Opened in January 2025. Two of five planned buildings were online then.

Local votes and rules
โ Approved
City planning board approved a smaller EdgeCore data center in Eastmark: two buildings (1.2 million square feet, down from 2.1 million). Generator tests only 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. It still needs a city council vote.
๐ Data center rules
City council unanimously passed data center zoning rules, in effect Aug. 8, 2025. Data centers need council approval, may only go in industrial zones, must be 400 feet from homes and no taller than 60 feet, and must do an early review of power and water use.
