Jefferson County has no county land development rules yet and is writing them, with data centers in mind, to finish by the end of 2026. Commissioners said they will not pass a countywide moratorium because it would not hold up legally. They urged towns to act on their own. Falls Creek Borough had asked for a county moratorium.

Brookville council unanimously passed a 180-day pause on data center development. Two data centers were looking at the area and together could use about 2.4 million gallons of the borough's water a day.
