πΊοΈ Zoning change
Cloverleaf asked Piedmont to rezone thousands of acres from farm use to a planned unit development for its Project Open Sky data center campus. The Planning Commission advanced it in June 2026. City Council has delayed its vote five times; on September 28 the mayor broke a 2-2 tie to delay again. In July the council refused to change the future land use map and sent it back to the Planning Commission.
π Data center rules
Piedmont City Council created a new Industrial Technology zoning district, a zone meant for uses like data centers.
