Berkeley Heights introduced Ordinance 2026-13 on June 30 to make data centers a prohibited use in all zones. Final vote was set for July 21, 2026. Pinelands Alliance lists the township among towns with a ban.

Summit's council moved to add AI data centers to the city's list of banned land uses, with a final vote after a public hearing in mid-June 2026. The draft used a 20 megawatt threshold to define an AI data center. No data center was proposed in Summit.
