Local votes and rules
β Approved
County commissioners let Teton Digital start applying for a permit for a 100 MW data center about eight miles south of Tioga. They told the company to work with nearby townships and residents, who raised noise worries. We found no final permit vote.
π Data center rules
Williams County added data center rules (Ordinance 2024-01-02). A data center needs a conditional use permit and must be at least 1 mile from homes, schools, churches and parks, and 3 miles from another data center. The county uses distance instead of a noise limit. In August 2024 (Ordinance 2024-08-20) it also allowed data centers in farm zones with a permit.
