Developer Eco TIP West sued Chatham County, saying the county's data center pause cannot apply to its project. In September 2026 a judge ruled for the developer. Damages against the county will be decided later.

Chatham County paused all approvals for data centers, data processing sites and crypto mining for 12 months, to study effects and write rules. A judge later ruled the pause cannot block the Eco TIP West project, which already had a zoning permit.
