Local votes and rules
📜 Data center rules · Mansfield
Town Meeting voters approved Article 23, a zoning bylaw that bans almost all data centers. Only small ones (up to 2 megawatts) are allowed, in some industrial and business areas, with a special permit. Bigger data centers are banned everywhere in town.

📜 Data center rules · New Bedford
Today data centers are allowed without a special hearing in many parts of New Bedford. Mayor Jon Mitchell proposed an ordinance that would require a special permit from the zoning board plus the mayor's approval. It would let the city ask for limits on water, power and noise, and direct payments. It is waiting for a City Council vote.
