Voters will decide whether to write a data center ban into the city charter (Charter Amendment 4). It would bar the city from permitting, building, expanding or allowing any new data center.

City council unanimously passed a permanent ban on data centers, AI data centers and crypto mining, effective right away. A future council could undo it, so voters will also decide on putting it in the city charter.
