City council unanimously passed a permanent ban on data centers, AI data centers and crypto mining, effective right away. A future council could undo it, so voters will also decide on putting it in the city charter.

The county council chose to pursue a permanent ban on large data centers (50 MW or more) in unincorporated areas instead of a pause. New applications are not being accepted meanwhile. The ban still needs a planning board review and two public hearings.
