Lochbuie's Town Board voted 6-1 for a five-year pause on applications for new or bigger data centers, the longest in Colorado. Residents at the meeting asked for a permanent ban.

Weld County posted three stop-work orders (starting May 7, 2026) on Global AI's site for building without permits. On July 20 it sent an order to stop the illegal work by July 31. The county later approved the project's permit in September.

Weld County commissioners voted 4-1 to add data center rules to the county zoning code (Ordinance 2026-01). Data centers are banned in farm zones and allowed in industrial zones with a review. Builders must show proof of water and a letter from the power company.
